Golden Gate Point, a 22 acre point of land 1 block from downtown Sarasota, is home to some of the most luxurious condominiums on the west coast of Florida. Cedar Point, as it was know in the 20's, when Circus Magnet John Ringling owned the property has evolved in recent time to a luxury residential community. As recently as the mid 90's, GGP was still largely ignored, then new projects started developing.

Starting in the mid 90's first the Renaissance then Alta Mer, The Phoenix, and finally Golden Bay were built.

In December (2005) the citizens of GGP voted for the city to undertake a streetscape improvement project for the neighborhood.
